What is the place and predicament of the intellectuals and their relation to the state and society? She returns to the life and works of Edward Said, Eqbal Ahmad, Stuart Hall and Audre Lorde and others to rethinking these questions in relation to our time. Who produces knowledge and for whom? How do we critique the politics of our time, if the “intellectual class” itself is deeply entrenched in service of power, and not in defence of the citizen?
